The First Baptist Church of Stanford, Connecticut, feeling profoundly grateful to all who participated in extinguishing the fire in their house of warship on December 31, 1898, wish especially to record their high appreciation of their services rendered by the City Fire Department on that occasion and do therefore offer the following:

Resolved, that by their promptness and their faithful efforts, the fire department have saved the complete destruction of our building.

Resolved, that their judicious and painstaking methods in restraining the flames have greatly lessened the damage we sustained.
