These bell sequences would ring at the Luther Street Fire Station and at the Stamford Town Hall letting everybody know that there was an alarm of Fire and its approximate location.  Call firefighters would rush to the station and try to catch a ride to the fire on one of the various apparatus.  If they missed an alarm, they would be fined.
