Stamford firefighters responded to 65 Prospect Street for a report of an activated fire alarm sounding in an apartment on the 7th floor.  On arrival, firefighters determined the alarm was sounding in Apartment 7B.  They quickly gained entry to the apartment and found a fire in the bedroom that was quickly contained using hoses hooked up to the building’s standpipe system,  A 77-year-old woman was found unconscious in the hallway outside the bedroom and was rescued by firefighters.  The victim was taken to Saint Joseph’s Hospital.

 

Fire Captains Barry Callahan, of the Fire Marshal’s Office and George Lombardo in an apartment at 65 Prospect Street where firefighters rescued Dorothy Ittel, 77. She was in guarded condition at Saint Joseph’s Hospital. The fire was under control in 20 minutes.
